We are so very pleased to announce the premiere of Say Mayday’s original series Cover Me! Cover Me is a stripped-down & intimate performance series featuring bands we like playing some of their favorite songs. Moreover, Cover Me is an exploration of influence and creativity, and a chance for bands to pay homage to songs that mean something to them.
In this episode, we had the extreme pleasure of visiting a recording studio buried deep within the hills of Laurel Canyon for a session with Slang Chickens. With their blend of surf, punk and rockabilly, Slang Chickens were the perfect act to kick off for the series.
The Chickens treated us to a special acoustic version of New Order’s‘Age of Consent’ proving how incredible the original is “by letting a bunch of freaks with banjos and mandolins” create something completely fresh out of the new-wave classic.
