Blood is the New Black Anniversary

The Silverlake Artwalk popped off this past weekend and I was pleasantly surprised with how much fun I had. I think I actually did the thing backwards as I desperately made my way down to the Junc Gallery to catch the Blood is the New Black Anniversary reception (and see Sterling Bartlett and drink free beer).

I’m not sure if we’ve covered this on Mayday but Blood is the New Black isn’t your typical independent clothing brand. Blood, showcases emerging artists using cotton as their canvas. “From the graphic, to the hang tag, to the neck label on each shirt” They have a wide range of very talented artists, and a percentage of every single piece that sells goes directly back to them.

Loved this Zine! (Spend all my money on a shirt though)

The show was going great. I was killing free beers like nothing. Then this dude walked up carrying a ratty skateboard, walked right up to the DJ and just started throwing down. It was AMAZING. Everyone should take a lesson from this guy.

Sterling had just finished 2 really dope pieces for the show. Guess which ones!

Also picked up a sick matchbook that Hannah Stouffer had done. I thought they were awesome.
