Michael Krueger

When I was younger, colored pencil was my favorite fine art medium. I wasn’t too spectacular with it, but the worlds I created always felt the most fun when I used them. Michael Krueger’s work is precisely that. He places funny little characters into colorful dreamworlds against surprisingly dynamic, barred backgrounds. The drawings are extensively detailed (or as detailed as you can get with colored pencil), but what attracts me more to this work is his ability to create such affective moods out of really dreamy settings. His titles are pretty rad too. Take a peek after the jump to check out some more.

Flickr Pick: onetwentyeight

There’s not much to say about our flickr picks; we like what we see. That said, I’m really into a lot of the stuff that onetwentyeight has been posting. Lots of cool archival images that he’s apparently scanned from library books. This is a set of Nautical and Navigational Astronomy images, which, in my opinion are so much more interesting when you have no idea what they mean. Check out more images after the jump.

Studio Report

Studio Report

Came across this (developing?) site that is pretty dope.  Sort of reminds me of The Selby.  Not much more than some rad artsits’ studio spaces, but that’s some of my favorite stuff to look at.  I always get super inspired by checking out other peoples’ workspaces. Follow my lead for more images.

Harold Treherne was a grassroots artist (the mission of the grassroots artist was to present life in the most realistic way possible) alive from 18991975. Personally, I’m a sucker for this kind of work. Colored pencil? Ballpoint pen? Yes.
