Francesco Bertelli is doing some amazing shit. He’s a New York-based graphic designer/photographer, but recently he’s started building fixed gear and single-speed bicycles from an amalgamation of new and old parts he gathers from an array of places, and he basically guarantees flawlessness. Each bike he creates indeed comes out looking unique, and as such, it makes at least a little more sense that the starting price of one of these beauties is $1500. From the Bertelli site:
EVERY BERTELLI BICYCLE IS A UNIQUE DESIGN OBJECT THAT YOU WON’T FIND IN ANY STORE IN NEW YORK CITY.
EVERY PART IS ASSEMBLED BY HAND, FINISHED AND FINE-TUNED BY ME, FRANCESCO.
I COMBINE BRAND NEW PARTS WITH “NEW OLD STOCK” AND VINTAGE PARTS FOUND AT FLEA MARKETS, OLD BIKESHOPS, COLLECTORS AND FROM MY TRUSTWORTHY SUPPLIERS.
THE FINAL RESULT IS THAT YOU WON’T FIND EXACTLY THE SAME COMBINATION IN ANY OTHER BICYCLE OUT THERE.
AND YOUR BICYCLE WILL BE UNIQUE.

Summer Daze
While I can’t speak for Say Mayday West, Say Mayday East rode this weekend ’til the wheels fell off. Blazing hot days and balmy nights, lakeside lounging and rooftop raconteuring. This is what Summer should be all about.
