You’ve probably heard of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) outside of Geneva, Switzerland. It’s a place where some very smart people smash some very tiny particles together to see what’ll happen (and in turn, help unlock all sorts of quantum mysteries surrounding space and time!). It was in the news a fair bit a couple years back, when some folks in the US filed to prevent it from going live. In essence, they were worried it might create a black hole that would swallow earth and everything in it. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

I never paid it much thought until now. Why, you might ask? Because they just released audio tapes of what they suspect a particle collision would sound like AND IT’S THE SCARIEST THING I’VE EVER HEARD. I really don’t want to lead an ‘Event Horizon’ existence. I hope these guys know what they’re doing.

So when I was perusing my new favorite blog in the world, An Apple a Day, and found THIS, I damn near lost it. It’s a key lime pie that’s been thrown onto a stick, dipped in belgian chocolate, and then frozen. It comes from a guy named Steve who only makes key lime pies. Do you know how good your key lime pie would be if that’s all you made?

They’re called ‘Swingles’ and you can only get them at Steve’s on the waterfront in Brooklyn. Enough said? Enough said.

Sure we dabbled with 90s nostalgia a bit, but more than anything the last half of the last decade saw the style world take dead aim at a classic, conservative, distinctly American working class sensibility. The results were pretty on point. And what could possibly embody that crisp mid-century look quite like a great pair of jeans?

On his last trip to NYC my main man Landon Eber gave me some serious schooling on the new denim trade, the players and the fakers, the movers and the shakers. In fact, denim devotee Ginno Burgunio covered him for The San Francisco Chronicle in this week’s Style section. Check it out. Below, a blow by blow by Mr. Day Waste himself…

This one is really special. I know it might be daunting to press play on a video that’s 9 minutes long, but take it from me: it’s worth it. At times playing like a Jarmusch film, Prada’s video component to their Spring/Summer ’10 campaign is called First Spring, a black and white ‘contemporary film by Chinese art star Yang Fudong.’ It’s a silent film (with a wonderful score, I might add) following different characters placed in different settings (and perhaps different time periods). Their clothing is all that links them to one another, and the choreography, blocking, and shot selection is unreal. Take a look at some screen shots after the jump if you need more convincing. Hands down my favorite ‘video lookbook’ I’ve seen in a long, long time.

New York designer Chrissie Miller launched the 5th season of her brand Sophomore this week. In addition to a really fun lookbook, Miller enlisted the help of close friend and photographer Cass Bird to create a trailer for the line.

Cass Bird’s vignette style trailer features New York’s young and the restless in a laid back, nostalgic Spring evening. We’re really looking forward to the full-length release. Hit the jump for a preview of the line

Nike SB just dropped a trailer for their latest tour video ‘Don’t Fear The Sweeper’ which took the team (with their latest addition of Eric Koston) through the mid-west.

I actually thought this looked pretty rad! I love the sound editing in this trailer as well as the overall pace (not to mention that they stayed away from all that fake glass shit in Debacle).
