Dude of the moment Ernest Greene takes us on a tour of his lakeside digs in Georgia. His one man band burst from relative obscurity last year under the moniker Washed Out, releasing one of the most seductively blissed out records anybody’d heard. Ever. He’s since become the poster boy for all things chillwave (or whatever we’re calling it these days). Yeah, I’m man-crushing on homeboy hard. Aside from being the most easy going guy in the world, he also makes super cool vacation videos of him and the fam…and seems to be unusually dexterous. More after the jump.

Anybody who’s spent a good amount of time in the ocean understands the beauty and magnificence of the wave. Big or small, looking down a barrel or a clean shoulder as the lip lifts and comes down overhead has a magical, cavernous feeling like no other. Even if you prefer just wading around and ducking under waves, you’ve likely peeked in and experienced it.

Bodysurf Zine (now in its 4th issue) is comprised of lots of these kinds of photos (in addition to many others), and even more than the visual stimulation they provide, these images bring to mind the childish enjoyment of just being out there, floating and goofing around, gliding on your belly, getting tumbled about in the soup. When I was a little kid and the waves got too big for us to handle, my friends and I would wait for the whitewash to come in, curl up in a ball and let it spin us round and round till we couldn’t tell which way was up. Whenever I dip in without a board now, I try to travel back to that time, just a little bit. See some great photos from Bodysurf Zine after the jump.

Our good friend and very talented photographer Keegan Gibbs just got back from a month-long surf trip to Indonesia. For a lot of that time, he and a crew of friends (among them Jordan Tappis, Sage Vaughn, and Josh Brolin) charted the coastlines on a large power catamaran looking for surf. Naturally, Keegan also spent a lot of time snapping photographs, and captured some really great moments that would have almost anyone considering picking up a board and heading to Southeast Asia.

While they were there, a powerful earthquake struck the nearby city of Padang Padang, leaving much of it in ruins. So while at once offering a glimpse into an enviable paradise, this photoset also provides peek into the kind of devastation many of us can’t understand. Like I said this morning, it’s summer time, and I feel like posting about summer things…

As a kid, I grew up near the beach and spent a LOT of time there. Now that I’m older and don’t live so close to it anymore, that atmosphere is a very nostalgic thing for me. To cut this post far shorter than it could potentially be, Maui and Sons was a staplehood brand of my early childhood.

Vivid neons and ‘flashy’ designs were a given with the brand, and once upon a time I was super stoked on that kind of stuff.

Anyway, this weekend Urban Outfitters afforded me the opportunity to revisit my childhood. Check out these snazzy trunks I snagged off their sale rack for a more-than-reasonable $10. Needless to say, this made me very happy.
