LISTEN: New Girls track — ‘Oh My Love’

In a new bedroom-video directed by Travis Matthews, Girls frontman Chris Owens performs a new song entitled ‘Oh My Love,’ which will hopefully appear on their upcoming album. Matthews also conducts a (kind of annoying) 2 part interview with Owens, which you can see after the jump. Check out the song below.

Just came across Darren McDonald’s work today, and it suffices to say that I was utterly amazed. So many wonderful photographs of such beautiful women. I particularly like the B+W shots, but that’s not to say the color ones aren’t also breathtaking. Darren is superb at handling and conveying intimate moments, and as a photographer, I can satisfactorily say that I envy his abilities. Check out his first attempt at ‘the moving image, a video portrait of Hannah Glasby’ below, and see many more photos after the jump.

Girls have an undeniable quality to them — pop outsiders with a bizarre aesthetic, both musically and otherwise, and a group that have been blessed with impeccable production and songwriting ability. The homies at yours tru.ly recently filmed them proper in SF, a video release that coincides with a feature from The FADER as well as a stream of a killer b-side Life In San Francisco.

Sandy Kim makes a few delightful appearances through out the video as well as a particularly cute anecdote in the FADER piece of sandy getting lead singer Christopher Owens to pose on his bed surrounded by pastel curtains. Just can’t get enough of their sound:

Directed by Aaron Brown, the new SF-based Girls video is pretty fun. Lots of goofing around, high times, (nice) lonely times. Not much of a linear story to follow, but I’m sure that’s sort of how their lives are going right now. Be sure to keep your eye out for the lovely Sandy Kim! Oh yea, and it’s all shot on Super 8. Blood of the Young

Let me just say that I am truly psyched on any type of magazine with the title ‘Blood of the Young.’ I’m partial. What can I say.

Anyway, I just came across this blog, and they just released the first issue of their zine. I love it for many reasons, but mainly because the issue is called ‘Girls,’ and it’s ONLY pictures of girls doing cute/sexy things. I’m partial. What can I say.

Love it here. You really need to see it all together, but we’ve got more photos after the jump for your convenience.

Our very good friend and photographer Sandy Kim turned me onto this band and they have been absolutely killing it lately. The psychedelic and wistful Girls have released my favourite video of the summer. ‘Hellhole Ratrace’ chases the dazed band through a night full of hang-outs and make-outs.
