Last night millions of people were treated to some spectacular Super Bowl commercials. Even more interesting was that a few of the most popular Super Bowl ads featured music from The Arcade Fire and Grizzly Bear. Check out the spots after the jump!

The Arcade Fire cashed in some serious checks last night as their inspirational song “Wake Up” was chosen as the background of the official NFL.COM. This was a really incredible spot. Additionally, The Arcade Fire reportedly donated all of their earnings towards Haiti’s relief campaign.

Followed by none-other than Grizzly Bear, stepping in for Volkswagen’s newest Slugbug campaign with “Two Weeks”. I love seeing a brand take progressive steps to re-invent a cultural phenomenon. Plus Tracy Morgan & Stevie Wonder had a little cameo.

While You Wait for the Others is the second video released for Grizzly Bear’s fantastic album Veckatimest. Directed by Sean Pecknold of Grandchildren, While You Wait, is an incredible stop-motion journey, exploring the maddening depths of loneliness in a masked young man.

Simple and elegant, the lunatic animation sequence in the tradition follows the tradition of ‘Jan Švankmajer, Hospital Brut, 60’s magazines, and Tintin books.’ (via: motionographer)

The art direction is phenomenal in this video. Outstanding work right here, the kids at Grandchildren really know their stuff, and I am desperately awaiting a making of video!!

The video is directed by Patrick Daughters (whom you might recall directed The Department of Eagles ‘No One Does It Like You’) along with some VFX courtesy of The Mill, this video really came came together beautifully.

Normally, it seems that when creating an album such as Veckatimest, obsessively concentrating on the every single note, seems like it could all just blow up in their face. In the case of Veckatimest, it doesn’t, it’ll just blow your mind.

For their effort, the duo has teamed up with Director Patrick Daughters (The Directors Bureau) and Canadian Artist Marcel Dzama to tell the story of tragedy and loss in ‘No One Does It Like You’

Dzama’s colour palette and character’s were brought to life beautifully by Daughters to create this haunting tale of war. The video had a special World-Premiere at the MOMA followed by a performance by the Department of Eagles and a Q&A with Daughters and Dzama.
